Global Awards - A highlight on our best performing branches

3 minute read

7000 + volunteers, 165 + university-based branches in 35 + countries in 2022…

We at 180 Degrees Consulting are extremely proud of our expanding, diverse network of student volunteers who provide professional, in-depth consulting services to social enterprises and organizations in order to support them in driving social change in their respective field.

However, as an international organization with members spread across the world, one of the challenges we face is bringing together our members for them to connect, exchange ideas and collaborate across geographical regions. We firmly believe that the respect and friendship between our members, besides their professional skills, are what enables them to deliver the best results to our clients and move our organization forward.

So, once a year, we host the Global Awards…

… to bring together our global society and celebrate the work of our student consultants. Every year, the Global Awards take place virtually and are open to all members and alumni within 180 Degrees Consulting. Branches can hand-in their client projects or sustainable initiatives which are carefully evaluated based on objective criteria. The best client projects, performances and initiatives of the year are awarded in our final ceremony. The Global Awards also allow us to connect personally in virtual activities, as well as discuss our ideas on becoming even more sustainable as an organization.

In 2022 our student volunteers conducted over 1250 + projects internationally…

… and we want to offer you an insight into some of the projects which were awarded as best consulting projects in 2022.

Our student consultants from Sri Venkateswara College, New Delhi, supported the Government of Punjab which aimed at making education accessible to all via a smart community library, and to improve regional living conditions. After a 3-day field visit, the team set up a comprehensive strategy to target demographics and partners of the library, as well as a marketing strategy for existing self-help groups to boost sales.

On another continent, at the University of California, our student team consulted with ‘Community Coalition’, a 30-year old grassroots organization aiming to transform the socio-economic condition in South Los Angeles to battle addiction, violence and poverty. Community Coalition was searching for a sustainable social enterprise business model in order to establish a center to build people and political power from the ground up. Our team gave suggestions on potential business models and conducted an extensive research of the South Los Angeles justice landscape.

Further projects which were awarded include the cooperation between 180 Degrees Consulting Munich and The Red Cross; the National University of Singapore Kent Ridge with KOTO, as well as client projects by both Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies and Delhi Technological University.

Besides helping our clients to drive social impact, foster societal change and work towards Sustainable Development Goals

We also seek to become more sustainable within our own organization. Outstanding sustainable initiatives such as establishing an carbon positive gifting program for our top consultants, supporting plantation drives and launching an Sustainable Sunday initiative to educate on reducing CO2 footprint were launched by our consultants at Jamia Milia Islamia University, paper-free operations and vegetarian food at events by the Technical University of Delft and circular utensil-usage at socials by the University of California.

Looking back at the Global Awards 2022, we are deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to support socially conscious organizations across industries, to connect and build young leaders amongst our international community and grow more diverse, aware and sustainable as an entire organization.

We are looking forward to 2023 and will continue our ambition to drive social change, work towards an inclusive, socially and ecologically environment and address the world’s challenges on sustainability.
