The Challenge

Strawcture Eco, founded by Shriti Pandey featured in the prestigious Forbes 30 under 30 Asia aims to develop innovative, commercially viable eco-friendly building materials which mitigate the continuous depletion of natural resources, while integrating agri-waste streams in the value chain which support livelihood of farmers. The core of Strawcture Eco’s product line is its straw-based panels, which are made from compressed straw fibers that are held together with a natural binder. These panels have numerous advantages over traditional dry wall materials, including greater strength, superior thermal insulation properties, and a significantly reduced environmental footprint. 180DC SSCBS collaborated with Strawcture Eco to help the startup in its quest for global expansion. Since Strawcture Eco deals with a niche industry, the prime objective was to first get an understanding of the value chain and functioning of the industry and then to identify target regions and conduct a competitor analysis. In order to do this, various factors were considered including the complexity of the market by understanding the drivers of demand, such as local economic conditions, demographics, and consumer preferences. Certain other factors included understanding the regulatory environment to predict the market dynamics. Conducting a market entry cum feasibility analysis in the sustainable construction market in Europe, Middle East and Southeast Asia was also considered necessary to help the client build its expansion strategy.

The Solutions

We conducted a thorough analysis of the dry wall market using various parameters and metrics to gain a comprehensive understanding of the demand for the product and considered factors such as per capita usage, regional variations in demand, and the impact of economic and demographic trends on demand. This helped us to identify the key drivers of demand for dry wall and the target market for the product. In addition to examining the domestic market, we also reviewed the European and Middle Eastern markets to gain a more nuanced understanding of the industry. This included an assessment of market size, growth rates, and key players in the industry. Reviewing these markets also helped to identify potential challenges and opportunities for the firm, such as regulatory differences and variations in customer preferences. Our team also conducted a comprehensive competitive analysis of the dry wall market, compiling 500+ data points including price points and qualitative aspects of prospective competitor products of international brands. This provided valuable insights into how the firm could differentiate itself and compete more effectively in the market, as well as identify potential areas for improvement in its product offerings and pricing strategy. The comprehensive analysis also included high level recommendations on price setting and a go-to-market strategy to enter into Saudi Arabia and UAE. This enabled the firm to develop a deeper understanding of the dry wall market and to make more informed and strategic decisions. By identifying the key drivers of demand, the target market, and potential opportunities and challenges, the firm was better positioned to compete in the industry and to achieve its business objectives.

The Impact

The founder Shriti Pandey used the data and insights collected in several international exhibitions which helped her develop a profound network to further assist in the growth of the organisation. Moreover, the accurate data points provided on the price points as well as the competitor analysis proved to be an invaluable suggestion as it led to Strawcture positioning its products perfectly in the markets amongst several building material giants. The policies of the state governments of the target regions enabled Strawcture to leverage the regulations and build a name for itself.
