The Challenge

Conscious Kitchen is a voluntary-based organisation which aims to fight food-waste by bringing people from all-over Amsterdam to share affordable meals made from ingredients which would have otherwise been thrown away. Conscious Kitchen were having issues coming up with an efficient division of task and internal organisation to ensure the volunteers' times were best spent and that the new batch of volunteers were left with clear guidelines on what to do and how. That is where 180 Degrees Consulting Amsterdam came in; to help them come up with a new horizontal internal structure and organisation to maximise their efficiency and allow them to keep on influencing and fight food waste.

The Solutions

The amazing team of consultants working on the project devised a new internal structure for Conscious Kitchen. This included new roles and their definitions, time required for each position, recommended skills, a communication scheme etc. The consultants also presented the organisation with a list of recommendations on platforms to use to stay organised and how to use them as well as templates for taking minutes, scheduling meetings, making schedules and for their volunteer-recruitment.

The Impact

Thanks to the team of consultants and their hard work, Conscious Kitchen is now equipped with a new, efficient, internal structure which has 1) allowed them to save time they did not have by having us help design it 2) allowed them to save time in the future and 3) ensure tasks are not forgotten or done twice and therefore that the organisation is able to keep on functioning even following a volunteer turnover.
